Phenylpiracetam is probably my favorite nootropic. It provides me very clean energy and focus without any crash. It also has some mild mood-brightening and anxiolytic (anti-anxiety) qualities as well. There are almost no side effects, it is very non-toxic, and there is basically zero addiction potential.

What’s the catch, you ask? The one problem with phenylpiracetam is that tolerance builds fast. Most people find that taking it every day quickly leads to diminished effects, and eventually may stop working completely.

I personally seem to be able to get away with taking two or three times a week at 200mg doses. Anecdotally, the sweet spot for most people seems to be once or twice a week at most, however. If you go with the 200mg dose it would definitely be a good idea to stick to once or twice a week at first.

The thing that’s great about phenylpiracetam is that it provides both mental and physical energy. I use it as both a potent pre-workout and as a productivity aid, and it is equally effective at both. Unlike stronger stimulants like Modafinil or even Adderall, it does not last long enough to keep you up at night (unless you take it late in the day). It does not need to be taken with meals despite what you may hear; it will be fully absorbed in a fasted state and cross the blood-brain barrier quickly.
